Adventure after Adventure

Combatcon was so much fun!  There was so much to do and see, it kept us busy most of the 3 days we were there.  TJ was in 5 panels, from “Couples Who Write Together” to “World Building.”  These panels were great experience for him.  He will talk your ear off in a small group, but public speaking is a challenge for him.  I am working on editing the video of the panels so we can post some of them on YouTube, eventually.  You should watch for that!

The whole program was educational, as well.  There were dozens of classes and examples of weapons handling going on all through the program.  The Amazing Wyked Writers (AWW) were the only book sellers there, but most people were there for the martial arts and weapons.  AWW invited us to join them, and it was a great weekend.

In light of how much we enjoyed Combatcon, have I ever mentioned how much I dislike Las Vegas?  It is just as miserably hot as Phoenix, and it is crowded and has awful driving gridlock.  That being said, there is so much entertainment that isn’t gambling and drinking, and you can see all kinds of shows.  We were at the Flamingo Resort, where Donnie and Marie are doing their show, but we were too busy and exhausted to do anything.  We thought about seeing Penn and Teller, but they are canceled for the time being, as Teller is having back surgery (or recuperating from it) at this time.

We stayed at a Marriott Property, which was pretty decent.  The rooms were clean, there was free breakfast, and a pool.  The king-sized bed was so hard, though.  TJ and I are used to our cushy bed, so sleeping was a trial.  But all-in-all, we had a great time.

You should join us in Las Vegas next year.
