It reached 98 degrees in Phoenix, yesterday. Typical for Spring in Arizona. The temps will rollercoaster up and down until the middle of June, and then it will be like Death Valley until the end of September. The weather here makes me think of what Moses felt when he stared into the burning bush. Of course, it was awe and amazement that the Most High God was right there, speaking to him, and nothing else was burning, but it must have been really HOT, too.
Kind of like being on the hot seat, or speaking to a policeman about how fast you were going, or maybe scary like when the doctor tells you-you have cancer. The cancer diagnosis was upsetting, in 2017. The surgery caused some problems you wouldn’t expect, like some weird nerve damage, but the second cancer diagnosis was almost laughable, except this cancer was a killer if not treated aggressively. Well, we did [treat it aggressively] and now I am two years out with a super good prognosis, however the nerve issues are still there, and the doc thinks this is going to be my new normal. It’s a bummer, but I won’t die from burning pain in my feet. 🙂
In the meantime, TJ’s book, Atrell is completed, but not published, yet. We will be working on a book cover and discussing some options. This story is sort of a mix of a post-apocalyptic society and sci-fi/fantasy. The character, Atrell is saved from his own ruined planet by Shaméd the Wizard, and becomes part of his team. When the planet Rednog is on the verge of destruction, Atrell leaves and begins his own adventures helping another world overturn the evil rule of a king possessed by a demon, and placing a good man, another heir to the throne, in his place as king. Doesn’t that sound fun?
I, on the other hand, am working on an old story I started several years ago. It is a Christian Romance, and not in my usual genre of Christian Historical fiction. This may be a struggle for me, as I stopped reading romance some time ago, and don’t prefer it much. You are getting the real me personality here. People grow and change in their lives. I love to read Christian Historical fiction, science fiction, and some fantasy, like the Lord of the Rings and the Narnia stories. I am not into much romance, anymore. I like Christian Apologetics and those sorts of non-fiction books, also. I like to learn more about volcanoes and geology; space and comets; and I love disaster movies, but I wouldn’t read disaster books, probably.
In the meantime, I got a nice rejection letter from an editor. She was super-kind, but said they didn’t publish Christian books, so I am going to need to find a publisher who does. She also edited the pages I sent her just as a nice gesture. How cool is that?
It is an exciting time at the Mirror Gate Chronicles. The Phoenix Fan Fusion is off until 2022, which stinks, but SO FAR the Payson Book Festival is on for July 17, so if you are in state, take a drive up and find us there!
This photo was one I took in the desert early one morning. Reminds me of God’s burning bush. What do you think?
We will let you know when Atrell is published. It’s a good story, if I do say so myself. Please forward this post to your family and friends. I’d love to hear from everyone who reads it.
